Spoke too soon....

I thought I would be going to sleep but I am much too excited for that. Since it is now fall, there are some very prominent foods that come to mind; for this post I will give some close-up attention to one of my favorite fruits that seems appropriate for this season: apples!

There are many different kinds of apples all over the world. Among some of my favorite varieties are the Adam's Pearmain, Braeburn, Honeycrisp, Honeygold, PinkLady, GrannySmith, Golden Delicious, and McIntosh apples.  All varieties come from a very old ancestor called the malus sieversii, with its' origins in Kazakhstan, where it still grows, wild.  The region of Kazakhstan they originate from is known as ata-alma, a.k.a. “father of apples.”
A few fun and interesting (random?) facts about these pulpous seeded fruits:
* The largest apple ever picked weighed three pounds, two ounces
* There are more than 7,500 varieties grown in the world, around 2,500 varieties are grown in the U.S.
* The Adam's apple is called so because of a popular idea that it was created when the forbidden fruit got stuck in Adam's throat when he swallowed it (not a Buddhist belief, but interesting nonetheless)!
* The crabapple is the only apple native to North America

What are some great ideas for raw recipes that include apples?
I can think of a couple of great things off the top of my head that would be great to find the recipes for: home-made apple juice/cider, homemade apple sauce, apple pie (is there a raw version? ha, ha), or even just an apples and peanut butter snack (with home-made raw peanut butter), which I have ALL the time and it is highly addictive and yummy!!

I want to give a shout out to some great blogs/living raw/organic sites that have really helped me come to the decision I've come to about my current and future food choices. What we put in our bodies is so important.
